About

Since we’re going to be spending quite a bit of time together, I believe it’s only fair for you to know a bit about me. So here are the basics.

I am 53 years old and live in (I believe) the most beautiful place in the world. It’s an old mining town in the Rocky Mountains with a population of around 1500. I’ve lived here for about eleven years now and I’m still constantly amazed at how incredible it is. I have four children, two boys and two girls, who are all grown. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss them. I also have four wonderful grandchildren.

I am married to the love of my life. You’ll be getting to know Tim as time goes on, I’m sure.

Last, but not least, we have two awesome dogs. Daisy is a 15 pound terrier who’s almost 8. She’s certified as a service dog. She knows when I’m getting bad before I do, and when I’m stuck in bed she stays there with me whether I’m down for a few hours or days. Duke is a 50 pound shepherd/healer mix. He’s 5 and had a really difficult puppyhood.

I have a fairly rare genetic disorder called Arnold Chiari Malformation. I’ve had five operations on my head so far. The chronic pain, as well as other issues from the disorder, have left me disabled. I was 40 years old when I was finally diagnosed. Before then I was told that I was crazy, that I was under too much stress, and that I should take peaceful walks and long baths and I would be fine. But in actuality, my brain stem was being pinched off.

Just to keep things interesting, I have also been diagnosed with scoliosis, a herniated disc in my lower back, COPD, and Fibromyalgia. This list makes sure that something always hurts. That’s the physical part. I also have severe chronic depression, ADD, PTSD, and GAD (General Anxiety Disorder). The physical feeds off the mental and the mental feeds off the physical.

I love to do “crafty” things like crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, knitting, and beading. I adore reading and listening to audio-books, but I have to confess that writing is my true passion. I’ve written ever since I can remember…stories, poems, and journals.

So there’s the brief version of who Lynnette is. You’ll learn a lot more about me as we go.

I’d love to know a little about you as well. Feel free to tell me about yourself and/or ask any questions. You can do that by writing in the comment box.

I can also be reached by email at LMOK964@gmail.com, on twitter @lynnette, and on Facebook

      1. Hang in there Lynette! Maybe you could write to our congressmen and senators in CO and tell them your story, maybe they could do something to help. Or even President Trump, who knows. But in the meantime, so glad to hear you are feeling better for now.

    1. Thank you Ken. My hope is to touch someone, whether they’re dealing with chronic issues themselves, or trying to take care of someone who is.

  3. Mrs. Lynnette, I have known you many years. And Louissa has told me alot about your health and your struggles. But also how she was so proud of you and how no matter what you stay strong.. I know I’ve never been your favorite, but I am so glad to be able to know such a strong woman who pushes through life thinking of others, loves their family, and never forgets to praise God through it all.. hope to see much more!!

    1. I’m so sorry to hear Bill had another stroke. How’re you holding up. Caring for someone is a difficult job, to put it mildly. You are both in our prayers.
